CHILD SAFETY POLICY

G & A Family Trust (Pioneers) Child Safety Policy

We maintain a steadfast and unequivocal stance of zero tolerance for child abuse in all its forms within and outside of our organisation.

Our dedication extends towards actively listening to children and empowering them to express their views, ensuring their voices are heard and valued.

Pioneers has established comprehensive systems designed to protect children from all forms of abuse. Any allegations or concerns regarding child safety are treated with utmost seriousness, consistent with our unwavering commitment.

We acknowledge our responsibility to promote cultural safety for Aboriginal children, ensuring their cultural rights are respected and celebrated. Furthermore, we are committed to creating an environment of cultural safety for children from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Additionally, we are committed to providing a secure and nurturing environment for children with disabilities, ensuring their needs are met with sensitivity and inclusivity.

Pioneers firmly upholds its commitment to child safety through the following key principles:

1. Risk Management and Prevention

Pioneers is dedicated to preventing, identifying, and mitigating risks to children and young people. Our strategies encompass:

Regular risk assessments of our online platforms, processes, and interactions to identify potential risks.

Implementation of measures to protect the privacy and security of children's information and online interactions through secure platforms.

Continuous monitoring and review of our safety measures to stay up-to-date with emerging threats.

2. Information Sharing and Recordkeeping

Staff and volunteers understand their responsibilities concerning information sharing and recordkeeping:

Personal information is treated with the utmost confidentiality and disclosed only when there's a safety concern as per guidelines.

Accurate records are diligently maintained for all interactions, reports, and incidents in a secure manner.

3. Empowering Children's Voices

We empower children and young people associated with Pioneers to express their views and raise concerns:

Providing child-friendly channels for feedback and concerns.

Ensuring all interactions with children are respectful and encourage open communication.

4. Family and Community Engagement

We engage openly with families and the community:

We communicate our child safety approach to parents, guardians, and relevant community members.

Ensuring accessible information about our policies, procedures, and child safety initiatives is available on our official platforms and website.

5. Equity and Diversity

Pioneers upholds equity and diversity:

Ensuring our policies and practices cater to the diverse needs of all children and young people.

Promoting an inclusive environment that respects cultural, gender, sexual orientation, and ability diversity.

6. Suitable and Supported Staff and Volunteers

Pioneers ensures individuals working with children embody child safety values:

Emphasising child safety and well-being during the recruitment process.

Conducting comprehensive referee checks and pre-employment screenings with a focus on child safety.

Mandating all relevant staff and volunteers to possess valid Working with Children Checks or equivalent background checks.

Commitment to Child Safety

Our unwavering commitment is to prioritise child safety within the G & A Family Trust, with a strict zero-tolerance stance on child abuse.

Upholding respectful treatment for all individuals within our sphere, regardless of their role or affiliation.

Valuing Diversity

Diversity is a core value at the G & A Family Trust, and we actively counteract discriminatory practices.

We continuously educate ourselves about factors influencing each student's learning journey, fostering inclusivity.

Code of Conduct

Every staff member, volunteer, and contractor within the G & A Family Trust adheres to a comprehensive Code of Conduct.

Rigorous training ensures preparedness to prevent and respond to child harm, as well as to support children's overall well-being.

Working With Children Check

All staff members are required to possess a valid Working With Children Check.

Interaction with students without this check is strictly limited to supervised circumstances.

Privacy

We maintain the strict privacy of personal information. Safegaurds are in place to protect this information, and individuals are fully informed about its usage.

Online Environment Safety

Privacy and risk management within our online platforms are paramount.

No data is sold, and our platform is distinctively private, not a public social media forum.

Communication with Students

Safe, respectful, and appropriate relationships between tutors and students are promoted. Online tutoring occurs within password-protected platforms, and we consistently review and update our online privacy and security protocols.

Parents are encouraged to access online portal scheduling and may be present during sessions.

Reporting Procedures

All reports of abuse are treated with the utmost seriousness within Pioneers, triggering immediate action to ensure child safety.

Mandatory reporting guidelines are rigorously followed when necessary.

Communication with Students

Privacy is a key concern, even though complete privacy cannot be fully guaranteed within an online group setting. Clear guidelines concerning information sharing and the consequences for violations are meticulously outlined.
