At Pioneers, our community of families is really important to us. We feel for the students and parents going through the pressure of these lockdowns. We want to help both students and families that the current educational system is failing.
When Covid-19 hit in 2020, Pioneer Tutoring’s founder, Gabby, found herself stepping into the role of teacher when her daughter was removed for home-schooling. As a qualified teacher herself, Gabby felt she had an advantage, but she felt for those parents in a similar situation with no teaching experience at all. She knew many families would be struggling to keep their kids engaged in their studies at home while carrying on their other duties as a parent.
To help parents throughout Australia equip themselves to teach their kids at home,
Pioneers Tutoring launched a 6-week online course. Parents can go from zero to hero and become their child’s favourite teacher in no time!
Boot Camp Topics
The difference between a parent and a teacher
We’ll help you understand the difference between the role of a parent and that of a teacher, and you’ll learn how to manage both in a home setting.
Instructional videos and resources
In our 6-week program, you’ll have access to video tutorials, lessons, and quizzes designed and taught by a mother and qualified teacher. You’ll also have access to weekly Zoom conferences to monitor your progress and discuss any difficulties along the way.
Learn how to assess your child’s level
You’ll learn how to assess where your child is really at, whether below or above standard and have access to testing templates and assessment skills.
Create meaningful and fun lessons
Discover the important steps in planning an effective and engaging lesson for your child. We’ll teach you where to find great resources and how to adapt them to your child’s learning goal.
How to take a lesson
Learn the value behind effective teaching, including how to engage your child throughout the whole session. In addition, we’ll cover questions to ask your child throughout the lesson to ensure understanding and participation.
Managing behaviour
Learn tried and tested techniques to manage your child’s behaviour and ensure you strengthen the parent/child bond. Discover how to boost your child’s willingness to learn new things.
Troubleshooting
Identify stick learning situations preventing your child’s progress. We’ll teach you the troubleshooting skills necessary to help them get ‘unstuck’ and moving through their studies.
