What We Do

When teaching spelling, we considered all the skills your need to be a successful speller. We based our spelling program on the THRASS spelling and reading program, teaching students of all ages the building blocks of reading and spelling. All of our tutors are qualified to help your children improve their overall reading and spelling skills. 

When developing the Pioneers’ philosophy behind teaching reading skills, we found the most effective way to increase student comprehension is through vocabulary! So, we go back to basics to build strong foundations off which to build. 

Maths has a lousy reputation in schools throughout Australia, but learning mathematics doesn’t have to be complicated! One issue that faces learners of all ages and backgrounds in the maths classroom is a lack of confidence. When students are confronted with maths problems outside their current ability, it impacts their confidence. The remedy is simple; we go back to basics. At Pioneers Tutoring, we fill in all the gaps in their previous learning and watch their confidence skyrocket.

At Pioneers, we believe that confidence is the foundation from which academic success is built. We foster a safe, educational environment where students feel comfortable engaging and learning. We aim to support students throughout their learning journey and encourage them to feel empowered in the classroom.

Many students struggle with creativity when it comes to writing and lack the tools and skills necessary to be a successful writer. We take them through steps in writing that result in more elaboration, creativity and confidence in themselves as a writer.

Before:

Once there was a boy in a pretty ordinary village. He was a messenger. He lied a lot. One day he had to deliver a message to an old lady in the dark oak forest. So, he went and lied to her as usual… Suddenly she cast a spell on the boy and took her disguise off, she was a witch! “I knew you were going to lie”, the witch said in a menacing voice.

After: 

“Knock, knock, knock”. The door creaked open. “who is it?”. A lovely old lady popped out. So, he made up a message and lied as usual. As he was saying the ‘message’, the old lady cast a spell and suddenly took off her disguise and showed her actual appearance… She was a WITCH! “I knew you were going to lie” she snarled. “I didn’t want to take it this far!”. “I’m just a normal messenger” he wept. “Who lies” the witch sneered!
